Open tin of paint on arrival and subsequent dealings with customer service

I ordered three 5 litre tins of Laura Ashley paint but on arrival one of them was open and had leaked. I contacted customer services to highlight the issue and they i.e. Jacquie very promptly replied to apologise for the problem. She gave me a choice regarding resolving the issue of either a replacement or refund of the faulty item with absolutely no quibbling. The customer service I have received from Closs & Hamblin was excellent and if I could have given 10 stars I would have. Would definitely recommend this company and will be using again for any more future decorating projects.

Would never use Closs & Hamblin again

Appalling customer service. Complete lack of attention to detail. I paid over £2,000 for a set of curtains and as a result of the total mismanagement of C&H not measuring the length of the curtains and ordering a curtain pole that would not bear their weight my new curtains were hung on my old corroded curtain pole three days before Christmas. The company took no responsibilty for their mismanagement and showed no empathy or sympathy for the anxiety of my husband (who is disabled and suffers from Lewy Body Dementia). Instead, the CEO stated that their company "was not responsible for ill health". Under no circumstances would I recommend this company.

It is a shame that the large Winchester store had to relocate to a smaller premises, however the remaining staff still working there have not compromised on their professionalism or ability. I have been in there several times for scrap materials and supplies. Julie has always greeted visitors to the store with a cheerful smile and offered to help. The last time I was in, Colin was very helpful as well and they both worked hard to accommodate that both I and another customer (I did not know) were able to walk away with the material we wanted, patient, kind and understanding, even when encroaching on a potential need for a lunch break, still willing to provide 1st class customer service. A credit to the company and glad to see C&H remaining a physical presence in Winchester.

I ordered goods online with no problems at all and they arrived well packaged and very quickly. I bought curtain lining and was exceptionally pleased with the fabric. It was thick, easy to handle and made brilliant thick linings to our curtains - it paid for itself and saved us manypounds during the winter of high fuel prices. The quality of goods at C&H speak for themselves! You get what you pay for and save money to boot! I'll be back

Be careful ordering wall paper from C&H!

Ordered wall paper for four rooms and took advantage of the C&H site wall paper estimator to determine the number of rolls required. This appears to over estimate as I have unopened rolls for every room and even though unopened C&H will not accept returns of a part order. Disappointing as this was expensive wall paper, am unlikely use this store again as a result of this experience.

The delivery of the chair was incredibly frustrating and difficult to organise. It involved going via C and H to another company to then another party who actually organised the delivery. Only a 3 day window would be given, with notice of which day the night before leaving no time to organise receipt of the chair. I will never order online via this company again.

Disappointing Experience: Defective Wallpaper and Unhelpful Customer Service

I recently purchased 10 rolls of the angel strawbridge Potagerie wallpaper and unfortunately, my experience with it was quite disappointing. Instead of receiving wallpaper, I received a 10-meter roll of fabric. I reached out to their customer service, and thankfully, a helpful staff member apologized for the mistake and promised to rectify it. They arranged for the fabric to be collected and assured me that the wallpaper would be delivered within a couple of days. However, when the collection took place, only the fabric was picked up, leaving me without any wallpaper. I had to contact them again to find out that the paper was actually out of stock and would be delivered the following week. Although frustrated, I decided to wait patiently. Finally, the wallpaper arrived and initially, everything seemed fine. However, I quickly noticed that one of the rolls had blue ink marks running throughout the entire length. Additionally, when the wallpaper was professionally hung, the pattern didn't match consistently. While the pattern aligned at the bottom for the first half of the roll, it progressively mismatched as it moved upwards. I reached out to the company once again, this time speaking to Michelle. I provided a clear video and images showcasing the issues, hoping for a resolution. Surprisingly, I was told that they couldn't see any problem and claimed that this particular wallpaper was their best-selling product, and such issues had never occurred before. I sent more images of the defective paper to support my case, only to be met with Michelle suggesting that it must have been installed incorrectly. I informed her that a trusted local company had installed the wallpaper, but she insisted that the paper had stretched. It's important to note that this wallpaper is paste-the-wall type, which means there is no opportunity for it to stretch during the installation process. Unfortunately, the company ignored this point. Considering the price of £29 per roll, I expected much better quality. Instead, the wallpaper resembled a cheap £5 roll one might find at B&M. The company offered me a £40 refund, but this doesn't adequately cover the cost of the defective product or the expenses incurred for professional installation. Throughout this entire ordeal, Michelle did not offer a single apology and instead placed the blame entirely on me for the issues with the wallpaper. Given this experience, I strongly advise others to avoid this company. Their lack of accountability and unsatisfactory response to a genuine problem have left me greatly dissatisfied. EDIT- I was refunded a total of £60. on £240 worth of wallpaper. Still No apology or acknowledgment that there was an issue

Visited the Brighton store for the…

Visited the Brighton store for the fourth time today. The last three occasions I have visited this store I have been dealt with the same staff member who has incredibly poor customer service skills. She actively avoids eye contact and moves to different areas of the store instead of offering help when it is clear she has seen people waiting. She is extremely rude and makes the customer feel like an inconvenience. Such a lovely store so it’s such a shame.
