I recently bought some Balloons for Vslentines day ,it was a display of ordinary balloons and 4 Helium balloons and although I was told that the ordinary balloons would only last acouple of days ,they went down on the very first evening and also the Helium balloons were dropping by the 3rd day because thefe simply was enough Helium in them !!!I I paid over £25 and I was extremely disappointed .Last year I bought a similar product from the Card Factory and it was fully inflated with Helium and lasted over 3 months for a fraction of the cost !! .I spend a lot of money at Clintons all year round on boxed cards and gifts but I really needed to express my disappointment this particular purchase

Customer service

Having brought a candle recently, which appeared to have lovely scent when removing the lid, once I started burning it for, in my opinion, the only smell was burning wax. I returned to the shop the next day to request a refund but they refused 1) I didn’t have a receipt from the nights before purchase which I was asked but thought save the planet and all that not realising that there could be a problem 2) I had used it! Well of course as I had already mentioned which was how I knew there was no smell, just a waxy smell. So they wouldn’t be able to resell it? I felt I was within my rights as the item was not as it should be irrespective of the price. I requested the details of head office to which when going online was able to forward a message with my email/name/number. Well the same day I received a response from Julie asking for further information which I happily provided and understand why to then receive a further email from Helen. Both members of staff were very helpful and acknowledged my problem and have solved it accordingly and I am grateful for their quick response and the outcome. Thank you customer care team!

Would give it less stars if I could

Would give it less stars if I could. Harrogate Central branch. Ride assistant with a mask over her face was very reluctant to move when I asked her. Then kept me waiting a while, though she clearly saw me waiting to pay for my card. When she then didn't use please and thank you, I was tempted to halt my purchase, but have mobility and other health disabilities which meant I was too tired to go to Marks'. I see many Clinton's are closing... Would he a good idea for your staff to cultivate customers, not alienate them. Appalling representation of your business.

Please do NOT reply

Please do NOT reply! I will delete and repost otherwise! Disregarding will prove a point and cause me distress! And please don't ask me for any further info/wanting to know more! Tried asking a question via email, received a very vague and brief/basic answer in response. Just tell the truth about why the websites online shopping/orders were closed down, it's like you were being cryptic because you were embarrassed or something. Since then, ghosted. Blanked. Ignored. Ignorant pig headed "people" no wonder the changes had to be made and the company was/may be failing. Poor support quality, very poor. Not everyone can get to a store.

Prejudice against grieving parents

I am writing this as I’m deeply disappointed in what I have been informed happened on Saturday 18th November at Clinton’s store in Solihull. My uncle and Aunty were in the store Saturday morning selecting many me2u bears, candles and keepsakes etc. As you have all probably seen in the local news, Saturday a public balloon release was held at Tudor Grange Park, to commemorate the life of their 13 year old daughter Kiera Devine ,who sadly took her own life at the park on Monday 13th November. My uncle and aunt have not left this Park for days as they are grieving the sudden and cruel loss of Kiera. They had mud on their clothes and were crying as the entered and whilst in the shop. Clinton’s staff for no reason other than they way looked, took it upon themselves to call security. My uncle and aunt were then approached for no reason and asked to pay for their items, they were also accused of not intending to purchase their items. Even though they were both clearly crying and in distress ,my uncle went on to explain that he was always going to buy the items and that his daughter had just died whom these items were for. The female manager of the store - name to be found out - shrugged her shoulders and walked off. None of the staff offered no remorse in their judgmental misunderstanding. My aunt and uncle then spent over £100 on the items and left the store with no apology. To have to deal with this treatment at a time when all they needed was support is heartbreaking. Kiera was also a victim of judgmental bullying which contributed to her taking her own life. For me this treatment of a grieving mother and father from Clinton’s is completely unacceptable. A company who prides themselves on and I quote “enhancing relationships through the expression of personal emotion and through the celebration of sincere connections”. What a disgrace. I will not let this lye and head office will be informed tomorrow. This will be taken as far as it can go. Please share this to raise awareness of the utter disrespect and regard of the staff at Solihull Clinton. I sincerely hope one day you do not find yourself in my aunt and uncles position, where all they needed was the free act of kindness and humanity- but get offered a complete lack of ethics and morality! Thank you

10/10 Fareham Branch, amazing staff

Visited the Fareham Branch with a friend yesterday, I selected two large boxed items and was about to look with my friend for her first "husband Christmas card", when a friendly voice asked if the box could be taken and put behind the counter, rather than my carrying it. What a thoughtful person! made my experience great (plus I may have then got another boxed item) and my friend when asking if any more cards were available in a design she liked was given a great deal. We both left happy and thought the lady advising the new member of staff seemed patient, much appreciated to have customer service, it really stood out! and as always great quality items very pleased. 10/10

I went into the Falkirk store yesterday and spent just under £7 on two cards, I asked for a small paper bag to put the cards in and I was told this would be 20p. I declined. Where has customer service gone? I’ve just purchased two products from the store and cannot be provided with a recycled paper bag to keep my purchases clean. This is just unacceptable. I will purchase my cards online from now on.

The absolute worst company to work for

I worked for this company for a year and i can honestly say it was the worst year of my life. This company does NOT value their employees in any way shape or form. I was forced to offer the charity pens to every customer at 2.49 each, customers just don’t want them. Only a small fraction of this cost even goes to cancer research and Clintons keep the rest. Most customers do not realise this when they are practically forced into purchasing a pen. To Clintons it’s classed as an add on sale and is purely there to boost their profits. You are worked into the ground and left to do huge card resets and shop moves on your own with no appreciation what so ever if you actually manage to complete a task in the ridiculously small time frame that they demand from you. Management are an absolute joke! My manager was awful. She would talk about staff members behind their backs and say the most awful things about them but be lovely to their face. She was actually stupid enough to send messages to staff members being horrible about other staff members. Lots of these messages were seen in the end. Not exactly professional! She would message very late at night making her demands to staff for the following day. You could never have a day off as you were constantly hassled about the amount of work you needed to complete on your return and the ridiculous deadlines in which you had to complete them by. Upper management make sure your whole life revolves around Clintons whether you like it or not. The work place culture is very toxic and tense, staff are miserable there and it shows. Managers and area managers talk about you behind your back constantly, they are meant to be there to support you but that’s the last thing that happens. I was a part time employee due to other commitments but some weeks I was forced to run the shop on my own for a full week with barely any help all while dealing with the ridiculous demands from the manager and area manager. If you ask for help as you unsure on something, you are called incapable and incompetent! It’s a disgusting place to work and the best thing I ever did was leave and never go back. It was an amazing feeling and like a massive weight instantly lifted from my shoulders. 100 percent the worst job I’ve ever had in my life and when I think back to my time there I feel a bit sick. To anyone thinking of working of for them, my advice is to stay well away. For a company that is supposed to celebrate life’s special occasions and joys, all it did for me is turn me from a really happy and bubbly person into the most miserable, depressed and unhappy person completely sucking the joy right out of me! Life is good again without Clintons.

Outstanding customer service

Blown away by the amazing customer services provided by Clinton’s, colleague Melvin B. Absolutely wonderful personalised customer service which is extremely rare nowadays, even over digital means the prompt reply to help me with a missing teddy, sourcing it and I know how difficult it is as been looking online. This teddy was sold years ago so tricky to source, and will make my child very happy for Christmas. Thank you Clinton’s!

Paid nearly £10 for 2 cards and they were just shoved at me.....no paper bag! Was told I could buy a plastic bag for 20p... I did point out that Clinton's should really stop selling ANY plastic and supply small paper bags to protect the cards! What is the matter with them?? Even Card Factory gives a paper bag....and Lorimers etc...etc...Going rapidly downhill 🙄

Absolutely amazing staff and management…

Absolutely amazing staff and management at the Bury St Edmunds main Clinton Cards! When the other shops said “no to filling a different type of helium balloon for me as they wasn’t sure how too, the management staff at Clinton Cards was only more than happy to try and help and figure it out. The staff took their time to look up instructions and was determined to get the special LED balloon up for my daughters school prom! Incredibly helpful and friendly they helped add that special touch to my daughter’s prom night! I can’t Thankyou enough , amazing customer care 🌟

Appalling customer service online !

I used to purchase all of my cards and balloons online, until recently every card I tried to add it was not in stock!, or any of the balloons! When emailing to ask why there was no stock, Julie replied that they are doing maintenance on the site and not taking orders. When asking when I will be able to order, she tried to palm me off with Moonpig ( if I had wanted to order from them I would of done so). She did not answer my question at all! I will be shopping elsewhere now, as my business is obviously not wanted, Julie needs to learn more customer service skills …

Worst three years of my life

My review is for the Clintons at Meadowhall, Sheffield. I worked there for three miserable years. There are a few reviews on here that I've seen about staff being miserable. I'd like to apologise on their behalf, as the management at Clintons makes them this way. I can't think of a single store manager that was competent or supportive. There were a couple of really lovely supervisors, but they were few and far between. Over my time there, we were expected to sell overpriced crap at the till as an add-on to a sale. Looking at you £5 bears. We had personal targets to meet and if we didn't hit them we were disciplined. The cancer research pens which are £2.49, only 25p of it actually goes to charity. The rest is taken by the company which is disgusting. Staff were frequently embarrassed and talked down to in front of colleagues and customers. I had a recorded meeting because I didn't pick up the phone on my day off. Staff were denied breaks at Christmas, if you asked for one they'd try and make you feel bad about it. I was asked to come in at 5am during a busy period, even though I live two buses away with no way to get there at that time. When I declined, managers went out of their way to try and prove that I was lying. Joke was on them as my Dad was a bus driver. No other travel arrangements were made for me. Didn't stop them from putting me down for those shifts and then asking why I couldn't make it. Overall it was the worst three years of my working life. Towards the end, I would frequently come home and break into tears simply because of the way I and other staff were being treated. HR wanted nothing to do with it. The only things that got me through it were the other sale assistants, most of which were lovely, and knowing I had a much better job lined up. Walking out of that store on my last day was the best feeling, even though the manager at the time still tried to ask me on my way out why I hadn't met my targets. I don't know, maybe people don't want to buy your crap? Maybe people want what they came in for and nothing more? You cannot penalise staff for that you awful, greedy company. Just avoid them. Don't spend your money there.
