Delighted

A very simple and straightforward process to purchase a front door. Good communication from the company and delivery when promised. A very competitive price for a good quality door. I can’t fault them.

Excellent service

We ordered 2 firedoor sets from Direct Doors. They have very friendly customer service and small changes to our order were smoothly updated. Doors arrived the exact date and time that was promised, and they were easy to install and are absolutely beautiful!
 Thank you for excellent service!

Awful experience

Awful experience, the worst aftersales I have ever had. The doors we purchased were c.£3k which was a luxury purchase for our kitchen. The quality was not what we expected and the whole experience was a let down. This company have set their T&C's to fit them not the customer, if you read other reviews you will see how dismissive and defensive they are citing their T&C's...not a customer friendly business. Don't use them.

Great doors - unclear instructions

Very happy with the doors; really excellent value for money and a nice product. Delivery was when expected and the delivery guys were friendly and efficient; calling to let me know they were on their way. Installation should have been very straightforward, but instructions were unclear. Specifically: I ordered a set of double glass doors. This comprises two panels, two sets of rails & hanging brackets, two pairs of soft closers and a connecting piece. The instructions supplied were for each of these bits of hardware separately, rather than one step-by-step document. The basic product (rails & brackets) comes with end stops (close end and open end). The soft closers fit inside the rail. I now understand that the soft closers are intended to replace the end stops altogether, and indeed if you're fitting two rails in a double configuration, you can't physically put the end stops where they would need to go due to the positioning of the brackets. When I emailed to check that the end stops were in fact redundant, the reply I got told me that I'd taken a photo of the end stops, which go at either end of the rail, and attached the same instructions I'd already read. In fact neither open- nor close-end stops can be fitted with double doors and soft-closers. They're not unsubstantial bits of steel and it's a great shame to put them in the bin. One of the reasons I didn't twig sooner is that you don't expect to be sent bits that you can't use; it's not as if these boxes are straight from factory because one pair contained the handles; it would be very easy to remove the redundant stops. The other small niggle is that there were significant burrs on the holes that accept the grub screws to adjust the height of the doors; these needed to be filed down to allow the doors to be hung at minimum height. Once installed, I'm very happy with these and will likely order another pair for a different room. However, DirectDoors should: 1. remove components that are redundant from the package to avoid confusion (and presumably save themselves money!); 2. Create a decent set of step-by-step instructions so that when they sell a combination of products as a pair of double-doors, there's no trial-and-error in installation; and 3. not assume their customers are incompetent, and make sure that any member of staff offering technical help is equipped with the knowledge to provide it.

Poor service due to inacurate information advertised on website

I want to share my experience with Direct Doors, regarding a recent order, and provide an honest review of the process. Initially, the ordering process seemed promising, the website is exceptional and I enjoyed the intuative nature of the site. I specificaly and very deliberatly filtered on delivery duration availability and anticipated a timely delivery for my ongoing project. Unfortunately, the excitement turned into disappointment when I learned about unforeseen stock availability issues. While I appreciate the effort to communicate promptly, the lack of prior notification about stock status during the ordering process was inaccurate and has caused significant interuption in the sequencing of the works and a delay on handover of the project. The subsequent correspondence highlighted the challenges faced by Direct Doors in managing stock, and I understand these issues may be beyond their control. However, clear communication during the ordering phase is crucial for customers to make informed decisions, an aspect that was lacking in my experience. The delay in delivery has resulted in additional complications for my project, and the financial impact extends beyond the initial cost of the doors. Moreover, upon receiving (part 1 - door frame), I noticed defects with the priming in the internal beading, the priming was almost non existatant, clearly not what was advertised and fell way short of my expectation. In my recent communication with Direct Doors, I emphasized the urgency of my situation, I ordered the doors on Monday 29th Jan 24 in the 4-5 working days delivery filter and to date 12th Feb 24 but unfortunately I still do not have a confirmed delivery date. I believe, given the financial losses incurred due to the delays and poor quality finishes on the door frames, that some form of compensation should be considered. I understand the complexities involved in supply chain management, but as a consumer, the overall experience has been poor. The lack of accurate information during the ordering process, delays, and quality issues have added unexpected layers of inconvenience and cost. I appreciate Direct Doors' commitment to prioritizing my delivery once the doors are restocked, but improvements are needed to prevent similar issues in the future. I hope this review serves as constructive feedback, and I look forward to a resolution that ensures a positive outcome for both parties.

I purchased a £1000 ‘Exterior Oak…

I purchased a £1000 ‘Exterior Oak Cottage Door’ and installed it on 19.01.24. Two days later after some light rain, the door is now ruined. Water has got behind the veneer and now the door is delaminating. I correctly applied 3 coats of ‘Osmo Exterior UV Protection’ before installation in line with the instructions that were attached to the door. Extract from Osmo website ‘this has been used for many decades on exterior veneered surfaces without problems’. Direct doors response - This product is an unsuitable to be used to treat our external veneered doors and should only be used on internal doors. We are unable to offer a replacement. I have installed oak veneer doors and used Osmo exterior uv protection oil to protect them for 20+ years and not once had a single issue. Especially after 2 days! The door has a manufacturing defect that has allowed water ingress and direct doors are unwilling to honour their ‘12 month warranty’. Do not risk buying from this company as their warranty clearly stands for nothing. I am more than happy to update this review as the matter is dealt with by higher management to ensure a fair review. Until then, avoid at all costs and go directly to a manufacturer instead.

Misleading

Chose an internal door. Rang twice to ensure that I could return if it wasn't right. I purchased it from the regular 'internal door' section of website, and not the 'bespoke' section, but then they say I can't return it as it's bespoke. They then say, the door itself isn't bespoke, the railing (sliding door) is bespoke. But there was no option of buying the railing and the door separately, and the whole lot came from their regular internal door section. Further, to return, the door has too be completely unopened, they charge a fee if they come to inspect a possible return (whether they take it or not) and you only get a % of the cost back. Just be upfront about it Direct Doors - you say anything for a sale even if it's a complete fabrication.

A mixed review

The good: the overall kit quality for the pocket door we ordered was fine. The bad: - The metal frame for the door had been assembled before - in our opinion, the frame was a repacked return. You could see scratches in the frame groves where the cross members get slotted in. The packaging looked like it had been repacked. - Some of the profiles from the main frame were bent. This could very well have happened during transport, as the pack was quite long and could have been stepped on during shipment. T&C say you get 48 hours to notify them with any issues, but that's really too short during most site work. - Paper assembly instructions (with a helpful QR code leading to a YouTube tutorial) were included for the metal frame. Not so for the wood door and surround trims. Company later explained to us that "everything was on the company website". If it is, please save us the guesswork by supplying a simple QR code or a link to the relevant part of the website. - It is only after a long email ping pong that customer service agreed that a poorly repacked kit was not a good standard. So we got there in the end, but feeling like we had to extract every info from the company and feeling a bit left to fend for ourselves. Install was carried out by serious professional joiners.
