My partner purchased my engagement ring from Gears late 2022 and year later the diamond became really loose and was nearly lost. Immediately this had me concerned as we hadn’t had it long and take really good care of it. When we went in to get the ring fixed it was sickening to see something you had spent a lot of money months ago be discounted by 40%. I’m aware lab grown diamonds have went down in price however, the diamond earrings ,bracelets and necklaces are selling haven’t dropped in price, they’ve actually went up. Jeff mentioned he’s only in the lab diamond industry the last 4 years which shows in the craftsmanship of his pieces. As we were such loyal customers my partner emailed Jeff to let him know how disappointed he was over the quality of the ring after such a short time and the 40% discounted prices. I was offered a discount on my wedding band after what had happened even though we made it very clear we will never shop there because of the quality of the ring. Please don’t make the mistake we did, do your research, stick with companies who pride themselves on their craftsmanship and have decades of experience! I’m disappointed I had to write this review after supporting the business for years but even my diamond necklace is gone tarnished and it’s supposed to be solid gold. Also reading some of the other reviews, offered Prosecco hahahaha they didn’t even offer us a glass of water don’t be fooled! EDITED: Firstly, when we went to try on the engagement rings you didn’t have many that fit my finger (not over weight just large hands) which wasn’t the best as you can’t really see what you like it only goes half way down your finger and tried on rings I would never have chosen to find something that would fit to help with sizing. I was very understanding and didn’t let it ruin the experience for me, because of the drama to find a ring to fit. Jeff assured us sizing was included in the servicing of the ring. I can’t really understand why you felt the need to mentioned that as it has nothing to do with the faulty ring just highlights it was in the workshop more than I had it myself. When we purchased the ring Jeff assured us that the platinum 4 claw holding the diamond is so strong and we’ve nothing to be worried about as you hear the stories of people buying diamonds abroad and loosing the diamond within a few months. You tightened my ring, that's the least you can do when a diamond was nearly lost. If I had of noticed this any later I could have lost my diamond and you wouldn't have replaced it. I’m aware lab diamond have went down in price but like I mentioned, all your other diamond jewellery hasn't went down it’s gone up in price. Many other company’s like Chupi haven’t halved prices as they stand by their craftsmanship and the pieces they produce. You can’t deflect it all by saying it must of had knock when you clearly sold me a faulty ring. It was in and out of Gears over the year and I treat it with great care! It would be impossible for me to have caused such impact without hurting my hand or finger. The diamond was so loose it could spin around within the 4claws. The diamond neck lace was in fact purchased in Gears April 2023 as a birthday gift and is yellow gold but now the gold has gone orange rusty around the diamond even though it's been cleaned and only a year old. My partner like many others has more than one bank card. I’ve emailed proof of purchase and photos of the tarnished necklace as you will not make me out to be a liar! I didn’t ask for this, I’m absolutely devastated that this is how we’ve been treated after being such loyal customer over the years and have only ever supported the company. Gears may be a family run business however, when I spoke with Jeff over my concerns he informed me he’s only in the lab grown diamond industry 4 years, his words not mine. The shop has changed a lot since I bought my ring in such a short space of time, jumps on every trend and giving big discounts to influencer's. Please be careful when choosing who to go to with because I wouldn’t want anyone to be left in my position. It’s not just the fear in loosing it but the whole thing is tainted for me now and I’m supposed to wear it every day for the rest of my life.
Me and my partner went to this jewellers at the end of February 2024 looking at engagement rings and we had such an amazing experience. We were greeted by Gemma who was amazing help and made me feel so special. We had booked an appointment and she sat us down in front of the rings which had my metal colour and asked loads of questions about my preferences and let me try on so many rings. She left us on several occasions to talk and see how we feel with the rings and never put any pressure on us in relation to buying anything. She gave me a glass of prosecco while I was looking and topped it up. She could not have helped us more and we bought my ring on the day. The experience was so good we plan on getting our wedding bands here and my wedding jewellery, could not recommend enough.

such an unprofessional jewellers with abysmal customer service. Heartbroken over how we were treated with our engagement ring. I’d avoid this place at all costs, sold us the wrong ring that we had picked then lied saying it was the same one when blatantly wasn’t. Then tried charging way more money then the original price we tried to be fair and meet them half way but they said ‘you as the consumer should have been more careful’. Ridiculous they should be ashamed of themselves. Hi, Just In reply to your message, that is wrong. when we went in we said to Gemma we’d like to try on the Hallie ring. We didn’t show a picture That was the ring she brought out and we fell in love with that one. The sale price was discussed and agreed but what we got was a smaller ring. She put it down to the shop ‘being busy’ that day which we didn’t think it seemed to be at all. Regardless of the different options you gave us it was still so unprofessional and to blame us on your shops mistake is ridiculous.
