While the product is fine, it is extremely difficult, literally impossible to reach Joby’s customer care contact. None of their links work or have a clear communication channel to initiate return or raise a query. While the product itself is fine, I will strongly discourage to deal directly with Joby for any purchases.

I couldn’t get answers from either Joby or Aquatech about this product before purchasing. Seems they didn’t know much about the product they were selling and just referred me to one another. International shipping wasn’t available, which is strange. And then it was shipped in such terrible packaging that didn’t hold up to simple domestic shipping. I haven’t used the housing yet because after arranging for it to be forwarded to me from UK it didn’t arrive before I left on a surf trip so can’t comment on the product.

For some odd reason Joby touts this new(er) model for its capacity to swap its feet pads with colours other than black. Who cares about colour, is this supposed to be fashion accessory? No, the GorillaPod is designed to support an item securely in all sorts of demanding, unusual locations. To that end the CUSTOM 1K makes great strides because when feet pads are removed, they reveal a genuine 1/4"-20 standard male tripod screw. Just like the one that connects the ball head to the unit. That means any item having a 1/4 20 socket can be attached at any of four (4) different points, or, up to four items can be attached to one unit. THAT is a huge improvement. But... Joby doesn't seem to be aware of this, or so it seems by their marketing of this hip, fashion ornament...

Die Schrauben, der Ständer an sich, die Höhenverstellung, alles wirkt etwas sehr Loose. Es Bedarf in jedem Fall immer einer Nachjustierung. Die Nachjustierung ist immer sehr hackelig und es ist viel Fingerspitzengefühl notwendig. Vielleicht etwas mehr Geld ausgeben und dann funktioniert das alles einwandfreier?
