I went to JL in Stratford to look at and receive advice on the Naim Muso speaker, however the staff were more interested in talking among themselves rather than customer service. I shall shop elsewhere.

The ambience was good

The ambience was good, and products well laid out. Staff were friendly and helpful when necessary. The coffee was good, and the staff in Benugo were helpful. It would have been nice to have some whole food plant-based options, but just about no-one does this yet.

Beware on buying certain items online

Two reasons: I bought underwear online and then found something better and cheaper elsewhere. When I returned the items unopened and in their original packaging John Lewis refused to accept them. 1. Their returns policy does not make clear they refuse to accept unopened underwear. I spoke to a number of members of staff and they made it clear their policy is not to accept returns of underwear under any circumstances: and, 2. When I wrote a review sharing my experience with potential customers John Lewis refused to publish it. They also refused to make their policy clear on the page that defines exceptions to their returns policy.

I decided to go clothes shopping encouraged by the £15 off a £150 spend offer. In the shoe department a very unhelpful assistant told me they were out of stock on the one pair of sandals I really liked which scuppered me getting my discount on the remaining items. When I asked if they would order them on line for me said couldn’t do that so I would still not get the discount. The check out assistant told me I should have gone in earlier in the day and insisted on me paying for a huge carrier bag when I could see she had some smaller paper ones. I went home and ordered the shoes from another supplier. Terrible service.

No adapter with lights

No adapter with lights Having spend the best part of £400 on ceiling lights I would have expected an adaptor (the round discs you get from Ikea) It's not the expense (£5 for three from Homebase) It's the inconvenience of having to get in the car and drive miles to pick the adapters up. Come on John Lewis - you're better than this! This light by the way are wonderful!

Unhappy with customer sèrvice & delivery service…

Absolutely terrible experience with regards to delivery of the Laura Ashley armoire! 3 attempts ( 1st unit damaged) and basically the delivery team did not want to do the job and were poorly equipped! 110% that the delivery would be successful was the verbal assurance from Chadleigh in the South African customer service dept. and despite all the inconvenience including numerous telephone calls and upheaval at home my requests for him to call me back regarding the failure of this order have been ignored. My family have used John Lewis for years but this experience has made it the final time! Not the service you would expect from a company of this stature!

Goods were quick to be handed over at collection point. However communication that there is parking available for pickups would have been nice so that I didnt have to pay £4.20 for 10 minst parking in their multi-story carpark. It's not until you are queing in the shop you get first info.
