We recently moved home and were without a cooker, so and wanted to look at ILVE stoves, and found the address of SAU's Elland showroom on their website and drove down there, a 60 mile round trip for us. When we got there the premises were deserted save for the landlord who told us they had moved out. Called SAU from outside their abandoned premises to see where the new address of their touted new Huddersfield showroom was, only to be told by the disinterested individual the new showroom wasn't going to be open for some months yet, and that they had removed all references to the old address from their website!?! How he imagined we'd found their address was calling from outside their old address to begin with I do not know. Called the distributor, Kitchenex, and went to see the stoves there instead. A few days later, having noticed that SAU's website was listing the stove we wanted as in stock and available on 3-5 day delivery, so called again to make absolutely sure that it was indeed in stock and deliverable in 3-5 days, and was told that it was indeed. I also discussed with the individual that I would like a price and availability on the optional fry-top and plinth kit, and agreed that I should add this as an additional note on the order should I decide to proceed. I therefore placed an order on April 6th, including said note, and paying an extra £150 on top of the price for delivery and installation, for which I received email confirmation fo the order. Days passed, and having not heard any notification with respect to installation appointment, I chased with SAU on the phone, to be told that they were waiting for the options to come into stock. I explained again that I hadn't actually ordered the options, but just wanted a P&A on them. Eventually, after talking to 3 indiividuals on several occasions over many days, each of which gave different contradictory stories relating to the status of my order and what the holdup was, the order was submitted to Kitchenex, who actually ship the cookers, and it was finally delivered (though I had to install it myself!) on April 29th. The overall impression I have is that SAU are just an outsourced front website/front for a series of actual distributors, and serve just to attract business and top-slice any orders, but the only 'value' they really add is to mess up orders and insult your intelligence with lies when they fail to uphold their own promises. It's a pity, because I have bought stoves from them in the past without issues, which is why I returned as a customer this tme, but I am now an ex-customer. *** Edit 1/5/24 PM *** Just had a call from a Karen at SAU who seemed to have called just to talk over me and tell me that all references to the Elland showroom are gone. Also wrong. What does the below Google response say?? Have now blocked your number because I am no longer interested in providing constructive feedback to help you fix things. Shocking.
Absolutely awful. Took our money, then told us the item was out if stock, only after we called on the day of delivery. We then ordered the same item in a different colour as they assured us it was in stock and delivery. Come day of delivery we have had to chase them to be told they won't be delivering that day and we have to wait another 2 days. Have finally managed to speak to someone in the office. Who has actually been helpful and finally explained what has happened with our first order and the delivery date of the second order. I do still feel as the customer it shouldn't be me chasing them that they should have been informative straight away.
