Wickes was spot on, happy customers

Went to wickes to see what their kitchen's were like, next thing I know is that we had arranged for David Stains from Stockton-on-tees Wickes to come around our house and basically design our new kitchen. This was the best thing we did, honestly, and what a fantastic job he did, and to add, what a nice chap he is as well. From start to finish he put this together and opened our eyes to the possibilities. He designed our new kitchen and then on 8th April 2024, just a few weeks later, they started ripping the old kitchen out. (It was estimated that it would take three weeks to complete in total) Kevin from the wickes team (building contractor) in my view, he managed the whole job from start to finish, and he was also fantastic. I hope you can tell, but we are very happy with the work that wickes did, from design to finish. The total time the job took was 2 weeks and 1 day, so this was under what was estimated. There isn't any real negatives, but you do need to bear in mind that there was not painting or/and decorating as part of the job. So I Personally did the painting myself to finish the job off. This was fine in the end, but something that you also need to consider when paying ££s for your new kitchen. So overall, 5 stars from us, from start to finished. Brilliant, thank you Wickes stockon. Julian and Amanda.

Was looking for a kitchen island…

Wicks - Shrewsbury. Was looking for a kitchen island worktop and after visiting B&Q was told I could buy one but it would cost me approx £2000 fitting fee. All I wanted was the solid wood worktop. On looking at wicks to make our own from pieces of wood, we went into the kitchen department and a very helpful gentleman advised we could buy either a laminate or solid wood worktop with free delivery with no fitting. The size is standard 2000 x 900 which is exactly what we wanted, cost less than £500. It was delivered within a week, on time and looks amazing. Thank you Wicks and keep up the good work.

Kitchen Nightmares

Problems with the kitchen units to start, followed by problems with the minerva worktops which are not fit for purpose. They were sold to us as being absolutely bullet proof but I'd compare the material to chalk! It then took a month to get them picked up and we're now 5 weeks later still waiting for the refund. Shocking customer service and as someone who used wickes alot for materials I won't set foot in one again!

Considering Wickes St Albans? Go for it!

We have had such a positive experience right from the beginning of the process. Ben Molcher has been fantastic in terms of designing our kitchen and bathrooms. He came and visited our odd shaped kitchen in the planning process and took on board are wish list and that has been what we have. We have used Sorin Gutu as our fitter who has been so accommodating - going over and beyond to ensure we are happy with the work. His team work incredibly hard and clear up as they go! Overall we have had a really great experience with Wickes St Albans - highly recommend them.

Buying a wickes kitchen from llansamlet

We bought a beautiful kitchen from a kitchen designer called (anya), she was excellent throughout our experience with wickes, the delivery team were excellent in navigating, delivering and carry our kitchen into our cottage through our narrow country lane, I had my own carpenters in to install at a 1/3 of the installation price. I would highly recommend anya in the swansea branch she went out and out to make sure we were completely satisfied. Thank you anya.

Atrocious service from the plumbing…

Atrocious service from the plumbing contractors employed from the Grimsby store. When complained the sales rep/designer at the store could not get rid of us fast enough and she was also very rude. Never again!! Beware. It has cost us a small fortune to rectify.

Brilliant bathroom experience

When we decided to modernise our bathroom we looked at a few bathroom showrooms and had a couple of quotes for comparison before settling on Wicks. The design consultant and salesman Bradley Webster in the Beverley Wicks store was very helpful in assisting us with the design and we are pleased with the finished result. The bathroom fitters Colin Russel and his very experienced assistant Rich are both excellent tradesmen and have done a brilliant job. We enjoyed helping them with the daily music quiz on their radio. We have already recommended Wicks to friends. A big thank you to everyone for a wonderful new bathroom.

Website misleading

Wickes were advertising a sale on Keter Store It Out Max storage units at a great price. As they are part of the Blue Light Card scheme, I was even eligible for a further 4.5% discount if I bought gift vouchers. I dutifully ordered £250 of gift cards, only to get to the basket to find that the items aren’t available in my closest store so won’t be able to be delivered. It seems pointless to have a click and collect and a delivery option for larger items if the company is unwilling to move stock about. So now I’m stuck with £250 of vouchers I don’t need/want and Wickes continue to advertise a sale item that they can’t deliver anywhere in Scotland. Really poor. Follow up to the reply from Wickes - it is not that the item is not in stock, it is the fact that they are unwilling to ship the stock from elsewhere. The stock is available in Dumfries but they aren’t willing to ship it to me. The item being out of stock is understandable, but if the website offers Click and Collect and Delivery, when an item is unavailable for Click and Collect, the customer assumes it will therefore be available for delivery. If stock can only be shipped from the local store, the website should not offer delivery when the item is not in stock for click and collect.

Happy to take your money, but as soon as you have a problem they aren't interested!

I can categorically say I NEVER write bad reviews, as most of the time the business takes the necessary steps to try to make up for any shortfalls. With Wickes, it's anything but. We placed our order in February, and the first fitter we were allocated tried to add an extra £1.5k in work to the bathroom. This didn't sound correct, so when I flagged this with my design team they had to fight to get my order reallocated to my current installer. It was extremely clear that because I was a lone female in the house, the installer had tried to pull the wool over my eyes and extort my lack of knowledge regarding building regulations to try and line his pocket. Despite this, I hoped this was just a rotten apple and proceeded with my order. I didn't have much communication until I received a text from a supplier stating they had received the order for 'mermaid panels' and to contact them to arrange delivery (important for later). As I wasn't sure when my fitting would be, I emailed Henrik in Customer Services to make him aware, and ask whether this was something I needed to arrange myself. I didn't receive a direct email back, however this then prompted the 'Delivery Date Confirmation' email to be sent to me, with the opening statement being 'we've been trying to reach you' which is false, considering I had no missed calls or emails. This being said, I believed everything to be on track now and that the panels would be arriving. My delivery was booked for 25/04, however I was contacted on 24/04 at around 3pm to be told that the mixer I had ordered was no longer available. Henrik directed me to the store I placed the order with, and when speaking to Ben there I was told they couldn’t offer any alternatives and they would refund me and I’d need to find my own. When I queried whether they would help me look for alternatives, compensate me for my time doing so and also pay the clearly needed expedited delivery charges, I was told no but to “order from Victorian Plumbing as they offer free delivery.” I then spent time trying to find an alternative, as I wasn't given or offered any help in finding one, to then be told the mixer had actually been delivered with the boxes and there was a mistake on Wickes' third party's side. Happy to just have a shower, I moved on with no fuss. My fitter has started work on Monday, and noticed that none of the cardboard boxes we received were big enough to be the shower panels. I tried to call Henrik on the customer services team at 8:05 as lines are supposedly open at 8am, and was on hold for 10 minutes before I gave up and put the phone down and emailed instead. My installer also got in touch on my behalf, and we were then made aware that the supplier no longer supplied the panels I had ordered. I then received an email from Ben at the store, advising me of such in writing but offering no support on what my next steps are. As such, myself and my fitter have been desperately trying to find another supplier as I will not have a functioning shower without them. It's becoming clear that if we were to stay with the panels, we would be looking at 4+ weeks delivery. As such, I'm now going to be without a working shower for at least a month. It's becoming clear that Wickes are very happy to take your money, but when it comes to sorting issues such as these the customer is left to clean up the mess. Considering the issue I had at the beginning of the process, I would have thought more care would have gone into the rest of my customer journey to ensure everything ran as smoothly as possible. I'm having to compromise my vision for my bathroom, which I have paid a lot of money for, to try and find a 'quick fix' so that I have a functioning necessity. From my view point I’m struggling to see how this even happened – how did getting a text prompting me to arrange delivery of the panels turn into “there’s no panels at all”? Considering I emailed Henrik with this information originally, how was this missed when arranging delivery of everything else? The reason we went with Wickes was so that this would be a hassle-free project, and it instead has done the complete opposite. The whole process from start to finish is disjointed, and nobody wants to take any accountability. I’m now on day 5 and nobody has contacted me – complaints department, customer services or the store. I’m still waiting on a response from their complaints department, so in the meantime as this is a financed deal I will be contacting the Financial Ombudsman to refer the matter to them, as well as contacting the The Furniture and Home Improvement Ombudsman. I’m unsure of the latter, but they will have the privilege of having to pay £750 for the matter to be referred to the former, so maybe this will finally get them to acknowledge all the issues they caused! Absolutely abysmal.

The tall chap!!

I have to say I regularly shop at the Wickes in Cirencester and are usually greeted by a fantastic member of your team, Marie! We always have a great bit of banter at the tills and always makes sure I scan my trade card. She will know me as the tall chap who always fills his trolley with the bard codes showing as I know this always helps and on a recent visit she scored me as 10/10 for bar code orientation 😀 . She is a credit to the store and I'm sure there are many other tradespeople that will vouch for this. Cheers Aaron (the tall chap!)

I will NEVER EVER buy from Wickes…

I will NEVER EVER buy from Wickes again. The Ruislip Store have caused me not one but two major headaches. They delivered my kitchen despite the delivery being cancelled and dumped it into a parking bay without a signature. When it arrived, there were parts missing and also the designer didn't include a key part which has the left kitchen unfinished with no resolution from Wickes whatsoever as they don't care.

Wickes Winnersh Kitchens and Bathrooms

We decided it was time for a significant update to our property with a new kitchen, bathroom, downstairs toilet and entrance hall. We decided to try Wickes, and to be honest from there didn't bother with anyone else. Our kitchen designer Max Goodison from day 1 could not do enough. He came and designed an amazing kitchen which required some significant structural work to the house with knocking walls down. It was reassuring to be assigned one of their trusted fitters, Paul from Abbey Kitchen Designs. Paul is a perfectionist and completed an amazing job, constantly going well beyond what was expected of him keeping us updated every day. Vlad from Novtile Ltd was assigned to fit bathroom and downstairs toilet. Brilliant. Clean efficient quick and a perfect job. Thanks to all especially Max for the project management. Totally recommend

Bought 20 bags of 'graded' top soil to use as top dressing when re-seeding my lawn since it was reduced in price. After watering I noticed 100's of bits of stone and pebbles along with other rubbish including rawlplus, curtain hanger, a shirt button, electrical connectors, loads of shards from carrier bags. Thankfully I noticed half way through and so sieved the remainder but around 20% of the content of each bag is rubbish and not soil
